  1. May I add to my book once the text is approved?

One of the major steps in the Priceless Legacy process is the approval of text by the Client. Rewrites of paragraphs, sections, or chapters — or additions to chapters — must be completed before the text has been approved. Once the text is approved, Clients and Subjects may only make minor changes to the text. Minor changes would include spelling changes, removal of errors such as repeated words (and and), and capitalization changes.

  1. Can I add to my book once it is printed?

Clients and Subjects sometimes want to add additional chapters to the book once it is finished. Examples have included additional chapters for new grandchildren in the family or a more in-depth focus on a life experience (e.g., time spent in the military, business that the Subject built, etc.). Clients and Subjects may add to their books and print updated copies for a fee. It is not necessary to repurchase the whole Life Story package. Please ask your Legacy Consultant to quote you a price based on the Priceless Legacy "rate card" for adding to the book. It is often best to wait a few months so the subject or client has time to think about the advisability of any additions.

  1. How many photos can I have as part of my Life Story?  Couples' book?

For the standard individual Life Story Package, a Subject may have up to 100 photos as part of his or her Life Story book. For the standard couples' Life Story Package, the Subject "couple" may have up to a combined 150 total photos as part of their Couples'Life Story book.

  1. How are the photos scanned?

When a Client purchases a Life Story Package, the company will ship a "Photo Organizer" package to the family. After sorting, labeling and inventorying those photos, the family sends the photos to Priceless Legacy via UPS (the package is tracked at all times). If the Client chooses not to utilize this included service he or she may scan locally at his or her own expense. The company will provide instructions on how to submit locally digitized images.

  1. How does the draft review process work?

All reviews and approvals will be coordinated by your Legacy Consultant.  Text and book layout reviews and approvals can be handled in various formats (email, on-line, print, etc.) that best fit both Client and Subject.  All text and book layouts will be approved by the Client prior to printing.

  1. How long is the standard interview?  Couples' interview?

For the standard individual Life Story Package, the interview is two (2) hours. For the standard couples' Life Story Package, the interview is a combined four (4) hours — two (2) hours per individual. Additional time may be purchased but experience shows that these time periods work well for the Life Story creation process.

  1. Will I get to see a revision of the book before printing?

Yes. . As part of the Priceless Legacy Life Story proprietary process, Clients have two opportunities to review — and must approve — the book layout with the Legacy Consultant prior to printing. These two opportunities are in addition to the step of editing the text after transcription.

  1. How will I be charged?

Clients can pay for the Priceless Legacy Life Story packages (individual or couples') in one of two ways.  Clients may choose to pay for the entire package at once (1/4 of the purchase price is non-refundable), or split it up into four convenient payments.  Payment preference will be noted on the package order form when credit card information is collected.  Additional books may be added at any time.  Those clients who pay all up front receive an extra hardcover Life Story book copy as an incentive.
If the four payment option is chosen, the first payment will be one fourth of the package price and it will be charged at the time of order.  This payment is non-refundable.  The second payment (1/4) will be charged thirty days later.  The final payments (1/4 each ) will be charged sixty days and ninety days from the order date or prior to printing (whichever comes first).   The final payment will also include any additional book copies ordered.

  1. How much are extra copies of the book?

The price for additional copies of any Life Story book is subject to change and you should verify current prices with your Legacy Consultant. Currently, the price of any hardcover book up to 125 pages is $60 and hardcover books containing more than 125 pages are $75. Softsided books may be ordered for $45 each.

  1. How long will my electronic photo files be maintained?

Electronic photo files will be stored for five years as part of the Priceless Legacy Life Story Package.

  1. What is included in a Life Story Package?

Priceless Legacy Life Story Packages include one (1) copy of the hardcover book, one (1) PLC embossed presentation box, one (1) audio CD of the actual interview with personalized label, one (1) DVD slideshow of the pictures in the book set to music with personalized label, and a photo file storage service where all the book photos are stored electronically for
5 years.

  1. How many times will the Client and/or Subject be able to revise the book?

Clients will have an opportunity to revise and approve both the text and final book layout before printing. For text, rewrites of paragraphs, sections, or chapters — or additions to chapters — must be completed before the text has been approved. The Client will approve the written copy of the text and submit it to his / her Legacy Consultant and the second payment (if on the 4 payment plan) will be charged upon approval. Legacy Consultants typically request that the approval be timely and usually appreciate a 1-2 day turnaround.

For book layout, Clients also have an opportunity to edit and approve the layout prior to print. Again, the Legacy Consultant will coordinate the review and approval step with the Client and typically request a similar turnaround time of 1-2 days. This ensures the timely printing and delivery of the Life Story book. If on the 3 payment plan, the final payment will be processed upon approval of the final book layout.

  1. May I add pictures or text after the Client and/or Subject sees the first draft?

Unfortunately, no. The only way that Priceless Legacy is able to provide such a high quality product at a reasonable price is through strict adherence to a disciplined production process. Once the text is approved, the text determines the layout structure around which pictures are framed. To go back and add text after Client approval would cause an enormous amount of rework and increased cost. However, pictures may be swapped with others within the book during the approval process. Therefore, it is critical to submit all your pictures and review your text carefully.

  1. Does the Life Story Package include video?

No. Our concern for product quality consistency is such that we do not intend to offer video product at this time.

  1. Can I include keepsakes and important documents (e.g., letters) in my Life Story book?

Absolutely.  Print, newspaper clippings, and photos up to 12" X 18" can be digitized.  Subjects should consider including standard format 35mm slides, picture negatives (where they do not have prints), and special documents including marriage and birth certificates, important letters, newspaper clippings, commendations, and awards.

  1. How long does it take to complete a Life Story?

The average Life Story process can proceed as quickly as 6 to 8 weeks to complete. Experience has shown that the time spent per Life Story is typically driven by the amount of time that the Client has to spend in reviewing the text and layout because the Client must approve both items in separate steps of the process prior to submission.
